Thousands of years ago, a cat purred, and humans listened. We were fascinated. Today, we're still fascinated by the purr, but in many cases, we've let our feline companions down. There are millions of homeless and hungry cats. These are but a few of the stories of the lucky ones, rescued from bad situations and given a place on easy street.
You'll be inspired, you'll be awed, and you'll say "awww" over stories about cats like these
Ms. Sammy, the cat delivered to her "furever" home by the coroner.
Lima, the kitty with a horribly infected tail, but who never stopped purring in appreciation of her human's efforts to help her get well.
Hanuko, the rescue with two human mommies.
From tales of cats rescued from a warehouse, a barn, and even a coffee can, to heartwarming stories of feline determination and human compassion, every story in The Cat Rescue Diaries is evidence of what happens when good people seek out the purr and find their "purrfect" feline match.

I am the feeder of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Kitty Horde. It began with Christopher T Cat who was my first rescue cat back in 1988. I have primarily rescued cats rather than adopted from shelters. This book is *full* of touching stories AND pictures from other cat lover's (and some who didn't know they were!). I highly recommend picking up this book if you rescue or just love cats.
The Rescue stories included in this book will touch the hearts of people owned by cats everywhere! I've taken in and adopted or found homes for about a hundred cats and kittens in my long lifetime. So, in each and every story contained in this book, I have seen or run across something similar. I can attest to the fact that cats are far, far more loving and affectionate when treated with love and affection. Every rescue is as individual as each cat and the humans involved in each rescue. While dogs give blatant affection and love to their humans, cats also show love and affection but in a more refined way. Currently, we have two rescued cats. One is attached to me, and the other is attached to my husband. My cat always knows when I'm having a "high" pain day and will stick as close to me as she can get. Cats make wonderful companions. Mr. Kurt Schmitt has done a wonderful written account of 56 cat rescues and adoptions.
I personally know one of the contributors to this book. While Mr. Schmitt did give the names of each contributor, my only objection to his book, is that my friend who submitted his rescue story was never notified that his story had been included in Mr. Schmidt's book. This, in my opinion, is an inexcusable lapse by the author. For this reason I am giving a rating of only four stars.
I have had so fat 5 kitties. The last 2 are rescues. All 5 of them have been awesome, lovable fur babies. Though the rescues are different in the way they look at me, act. They know how much better life is and it seems they take nothing for granted. When Izzy gets older,,,may it be many years from now and passes I'll be of age that getting a cat under 3 won't make sense.
I plan on being a foster to the older and disabled kitties. We will all benefit. The 2 I have rescued have had health issues. Please adopt these sweet little things. Yes they end up at the vets more, my vet is very kind knowing they are rescues please ask your vet to work with you.
Loved these stories. Please keep publishing. Contact me if you wish. They are so sweet, caring. ...lovely little girls fur faces.

Who could resist a sweet, purring bundle of fur?
The people who wrote the anecdotes included in this collection certainly couldn't resist them. These stories explain what the rescue and adoption of their pet has meant to them, and how their lives have been enriched by the inclusion of that little bundle of love and companionship.
The photographs of the pets included with most of the stories serve to personalize each tale as you read about the cats' stories of how they came to be rescued and loved.
Just be careful. These stories may be the encouragement you need to go adopt a rescue cat and add some extra special love and joy to your home while saving the life of a cat in need.
Recommended for all animal lovers.
Being a cat mommy, I totally loved this short book. The only time in my 50+ years I didn't have a cat in my life was between 17-28 as I was in the Army and then bouncing around the country to enhance my career.
In the years after 28, I've rescued 6 formally outdoor kitties. My first 2 lived to a ripe old age of 20 and 21. The next we rescued from a construction site (he was approx. 5 weeks old) is now going on 9, and 3 bottle babies-their mom gave birth in our shed, and disappeared a day or two before they made a week old! While all 3 survived bottle feeding, 1 died a year later from a respiratory infection. They all 3 got it, but she was so small compared to her 2 brothers, I really thought we'd lose her during bottle feeding. The boys thrived during their first year, but Callie was always stunted.
One other rescue was an F2 Savannah, and sadly thanks to an airlines "baggage handlers" leaving her in the sun during August at Atlanta International for over 8 hours with no water given to her!!! Sadly she suffered multiple organ damage, and passed within the year. I live in South Florida, and she was flown in from West Virginia. I'll never have a pet, or soon to be pet sent by commercial air ever again.
This collection of kitty rescues at times brought tears to my eyes.....many of which were "happy tears!" Many of us throughout the world don't see our "pets" as pets, but much loved and valued members of our families. Heh...I've cried over the loss of some of my furry family members over the human ones in my family! (G)
I hope you put more stories together to form another book. I know I would buy it in a heartbeat. Thanks for sharing!!!!
This could have been a good book, and had potential, but in my humble opinion, this book just had too many sleazy and sad stories. Additionally, I felt that it was very poorly written. Disclosure I have almost no tolerance for reading about animal abuse, and this low rating reflects my dismay at the details of abuse it contains. If it had a sufficient warning cautioning readers about details of abuse, I wouldn't have expected much. Read if you want to have your heart broken by sad stories about sad people who know very little about cats. I couldn't believe how poorly written these stories were, full of grammar errors and barely understandable English. Just a serious failure. Who wants to read about a cat owner who comes from a country where eating cats is normal? It wouldn't have been that hard to edit out some of the sickest, saddest details and make this into a collection of uplifting stories. I don't know how the author thinks that these reflect the best of people. Full of childish, selfish people making terrible decisions about cats based on stupid criteria. Just an inferior book that was a huge waste of time and left me feeling depleted and depressed.
