Love Mimi Barbour, love her books. When you can read a book that within just a few words, you are brought right into the book. You feel, taste, see everything going on. Great story lines. Fantastic characters, fantastic plots, story lines like real life both honest folk and of crooks. Humor that will have you giggling then full on belly laugh. You may even shed a tear or two at love. You will also have visit from other Las Vegas cops from the Vegas series. All in all Mimi never disappoints, I loved the book and highly recommend.
The only problem I had with this tale was it was too short. Although, it was a quick read it did connect all the dots. We had enough development to understand what made Francesca a kickass heroine. And, Sean was just plain yummy. He was cute, and smitten with Frankie. I just didn’t get enough of him pursuing his girl. Another 200 pages and their romance would have been swoon worthy I'm sure. Nonetheless, this was an excellent story, one I enjoyed it very much.
Best line in a scene.... "Baby, you gotta stop this fighting. I'm beginning to think you might have anger management issues."
I really like this authors writing, and her storytelling. I'll be looking for more of her stories. Great read.
FBI Agent Frankie Donovan went undercover to take down a crime boss threatening local businesses. She went in as a hotel owner and even had a (fake) fiancé.
Frankie had been an undercover agent for quite some time but never had a chance to be really good at it because her mother always made sure she had easy cases. Her mother had a lot of pull in that area since she was very high in the FBI. Wanting to get away from her mother's interference was the reason she transferred to another city. Frankie never knew who her father was but the transfer prompted her mother to finally tell her because he lived in the city she was going to and was a detective there, too. She wanted her daughter to be prepared, in case they ran into each other. I loved the way he and his family welcomed Frankie into their family. And his children were thrilled to have a new sister.
I liked how good Frankie was at her undercover work, and thought it was exciting when she used her black belt skills. The romance between Frankie and Sean was great. This thriller will keep you on your toes with all its twists and turns. I recommend this fast-paced book. 3.5 stars
